Yahoo Inc. Receives US$ 610 Million against Hackers PDF Print E-mail

The leading digital media company, Yahoo Inc., has won a court case against spammers, a legal triumph that also covers a random judgment of US$ 610 Million, as per the news by pcworld on December 8, 2011.


According to the lawsuit filed by Yahoo Inc. in May 2008, the Company charged some individual and firms with defamation, by which the reputation of the Company was endangered. These people held under charge have tried to scam innocent users through a spam campaign, by which they informed them of winning prizes in a fake Yahoo-sponsored lottery.

Yahoo stated that the defendants' motive was to deceive the e-mail recipients so that they could reveal their bank account details for the greater advantage. These confidential information would be used for raiding the bank accounts of the victims by using credit cards and submitting application for loans
