However, the security company has added that malware spam accounted for around 12% of all spam on June 13th, 2010 and reached the highest level at 5% on 3rd June & 15th June (2010).

In comparison to 89.81% in May (2010), spam level dropped to 88.32% in June (2010).

The report also states that there was an approximate increase of 25% in the total phishing numbers in June (2010). This increase could be seen in almost all the phishing sectors. Phishing websites made by automated phishing toolkits increased to 123% from May (2010).

The only sector which had seen a downfall of about 2% from May (2010) were the phishing websites with IP domains (for e.g. domains like http://255.255.255.255). Webhosting services accounted for 11% of all phishing, up 23% from the previous month May (2010).

In June 2010, non-English phishing websites increased 15% in number. French and Italian websites were the highest non-English phishing sites. The French e-commerce sector saw an increase of 25% in phishing.

Due to this sudden increase in spamming and phishing, Symantec now released a warning to all its users not to answer any spam because the sender's email address is normally fake that will bring more spam.

In its latest report, Symantec also suggests not to fill in forms where personal or financial information or passwords are asked.

Symantec states that a reputable company will not ask for the personal details through email. If the users have any doubt, then contact the company through some trusted source like checked telephone number, or a known internet address.
