The Anti-Spam Compliance Unit (ASCU) of the Department of Internal Affairs has issued an alert for the public that they should remain watchful while viewing e-mails as the 2011 Rugby World Cup draws near. Infonews.co.nz reported this on July 22, 2011.
Stated Toni Demetriou Senior Investigator, the department feels anxious that cyber-criminals might influence people just like they did during the 2010 FIFA World Cup as well as other important international events that were so attractive to them since the criminals could capitalize on those occasions over the Internet in several manners. Mr. Demetriou contented that the 2011 Rugby World Cup wasn't any exception. For, there had by now been electronic mails telling recipients that they were the winners of $1m during one lottery promotion that the 2011 Rugby World Cup's governing body supposedly operated. In truth, there was no prize money, while the Rugby World Cup organizers hadn't sent the e-mail either.
