Lovation, the company that protects reputation of online-businesses, released a report on February 9, 2012 according to which, as Valentine's Day approaches, there has been a 150% rise in scams compared to 2010 through Internet dating sites. Lovation discovered that 3.8% of all messages exchanged on dating websites happened to be fraudulent. Yahoo OMG published this on February 10, 2012.
Vice-President of Operations, Molly O'Hearn at Lovation said that as people moved closer to Valentine's Day, it was important that they remained vigilant about any off the track interaction online. Exactly like within the real world, so also within the virtual world when something appeared excessively true, it might just be nothing at all, O'Hearn analyzed. Yahoo OMG published this.
Lovation also discovered that frauds, which were extremely frequent, involved the use of counterfeit credit cards for setting up multiple accounts, mass junk e-mails sent for touting products, fake data posted on users' profiles, and phishing or phony commercial websites for obtaining personal information.
