According to Trend Micro the IT security firm, which published its most recent report for the third quarter, India has a growing Internet base though with that the threats of online hazards are increasing. Apparently, it is now the country affected with the greatest spam distribution, published thehindubusinessline.com in news on December 7, 2011.
Previously during Q1 2011 (January-March 2011), India ranked No.2 on the list of most spam sourced countries, after which it slid to No.3 during Q2 2011 (April-June 2011), and eventually climbing to the highest during Q3 2011 (July-September 2011). Earlier during Q1 and Q2 2011, the top ranks went to USA and South Korea respectively.
Furthermore, the report states that like during Q2 2011, South Korea and India remained among the 3 most spam-distributing nations. Astonishingly though, USA that usually ranked the highest didn't appear among the ten most spam generating nations. India contributed a large 12% to global spam, while South Korea contributed a 9%, according to the report.
