PC hackers from Romania and Russia may have filched innumerable payment card numbers belonging to consumers all across USA, particularly St. Louis (Missouri, U.S) following the wholesale retailer Restaurant Depot, situated at St. Louis, recently falling victim to a hack, states kmov.com dated December 9, 2011.
Actually, it was during early November 2011 that the fraud became evident, as customers of Restaurant Depot began commenting about illicit bank transactions through the Net from the accounts they held. Consequently, the retailer set up an investigation into the incident via hiring the services of Trustwave a computer forensic specialist.
Thereafter, the investigators discovered that the online hackers installed malware onto the Restaurant Depot systems that processed payment cards. The said malware stole the details of the credit/debit cards during their processing, saved them for sometime before transmitting them onto a Russia-based PC server.
