Attacks from phishers have largely been attempted on reputed government and private banks, wherein numerous accountholders received phishing electronic mails directing them that they should make their account particulars up-to-date. India's apex bank, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) elucidated that it did not dispatch any e-mail telling clients that they require making the details of their accounts up-to-date. According to it, the bank is aware of an e-mail using its name while asking customers that they should get the particulars of their saving accounts updated.
Additionally, it also elucidated that no commercial bank or the RBI will ever conduct communication for soliciting accountholders' bank particulars to serve any purpose whatsoever.
