Symantec, an Internet security firm, states that spam based on the FIFA 2010 World Cup has surged by almost 27%. Along with others, Symantec has started cautioning users against an increase in spam based on the coming World Cup in South Africa.

Most of Top Ten E-Threats Remained Unchanged in May 2010 PDF Print E-mail

On June 3, 2010, a provider of security software, Sunbelt Software, declared the top ten widespread malware threats for May 2010. Out of them, 8 of the e-threats were those which had already featured in the April 2010 report, suggesting the behavior-based detection trend.

Fortinet’s May 2010 Threatscape Report Shows New PDF Exploit PDF Print E-mail

Internet security firm Fortinet released its May 2010 Threatscape
Report on June 3, 2010 which exhibited that a new PDF exploit was
circulating in high volume via a spam campaign. Didier Stevens wrote
about the vulnerability in his blog for the first time on March 29,
2010 saying that it was called CVE-2010-1240. According to Fortinet, a
malicious document called PDF/Pidief.BV!exploit exploits this
vulnerability.

In 2008, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sued 'CyberSpy Software' - a spyware vendor based in Florida - for marketing RemoteSpy, a keylogging program. The program was wholly undetectable. Now, it is after two years that a settlement has been reached in favor of FTC.
