According to the BKIS (Bach Khoa Internet Security Center) of Vietnam, PC viruses have infected massive 5.3 Million computers in the country, with almost 3,300 viruses spreading infection during July 2009 alone.
Symantec Reports Rise in Phishing Attacks in July 2009

Symantec, which monitored phishing and spam activity during July 2009, released its new e-threat report. The report says that there was a 52% increase in phishing attacks during the month while the rate of e-mail spam remained constant as compared to June 2009.
Symantec, an online security company, has warned that an online scam is distributing e-mails in Taiwan so that recipients may be duped to download malware from the Net. The attack reportedly compromises computers that do not have the latest patch for Adobe software.

According to 'The Canadian Press' news report published on August 9, 2009 from Toronto in Canada, an Internet scammer is hacking people's e-mail accounts to seek cash from their contacts by pretending as the accountholders themselves.
According to threat researchers at ESET, namely Pierre-Marc Bureau, David Harley and Sebastián Bortnik who created a blog posting, hackers have been exploiting the Slideshare.net website to distribute malicious software.
