Adobe Patch Fail to Fix Critical Flaw PDF Print E-mail

According to a Vietnam-based security firm 'Bach Khoa Internetwork Security' (BKIS), the out-of-cycle security patch for Adobe Acrobat and Reader released on June 29, 2010 hasn't been able to fix a problem that allows hackers execute malicious code.

Adobe-based Attacks Use PDF to Spread Fake Antivirus PDF Print E-mail

Researchers at the security company 'Sophos' have discovered that attackers are using a PDF file to identify Adobe Reader's version and unleashing a suitable attack code. If exploited effectively, Sophos claims, a sample of fake antivirus gets downloaded and deployed on the target PC.

Canadian Pharmacy Spam Re-emerges PDF Print E-mail

Security researchers at McAfee have detected a new spam campaign associated with the old Canadian Pharmacy theme. Meirgen Krehs, Researcher at McAfee Avert Labs, states that some time has passed since anything has been spotted referencing the Canadian Pharmacy. Yet, according to him, a huge number of URLs related to spam has been discovered that all associate with a few widely documented malicious Internet Protocol ranges, as reported by SCMagazine on July 1, 2010.

AppRiver Recorded 26 Billion Spam Messages in H1 2010 PDF Print E-mail

Internet security firm 'AppRiver' has released its mid-year Threat and Spamscape report which gives a detailed assessment of spam and malware trends recorded between January 2010 and June 2010. As per the report, the firm quarantined over 26 Billion spam messages in these six months.
